When I married my husband, I married him with the intention of staying with him, until death do us part. (FYI he feels the same way too.) These are pretty strong words, given that you never know what life has in store for you tomorrow, let alone 20 years from now!

But I think to make that sort of committment to someone is amazing! To say to someone, “…yes, I will be with you through it all, to see you through the good and the bad, to experience the ups and downs, and the highs and lows with you”, is priceless. How many people can readily say that to the person they are in a relationship with (and mean it)? It adds so much more substance and depth to a relationship, that new relationships (for all their infatuation and pizzazz) can’t even match!

It’s also a comforting thought. It’s comforting to know that  I don’t have to worry that my husband is going to pick up and leave if we get into a fight, or if we don’t see eye to eye on a major issue, or if I even gain 300 pounds! He’ll be there for me through it all.  And while I can never know this for sure, I have to believe in this, in him and in our marriage. I have to have faith that I have a partner for life…And really, maybe having faith is not such a bad thing after all.
